Melissa Mendez The cultural artifact I chose was a camera, ever since I was the age of six I loved to take pictures. I love to take pictures of others, I love to take pictures of myself and I love to take pictures of real moments etc. The first camera I received was the one my mom gave me. She had gifted it to me after I would always borrow it from her to take pictures of people and backgrounds. Melissa Mendez BLOG 2 Prompt #1 : (Gender Representation in Movies) The cultural artifact that I chose was the movie She’s the Man. The reason I chose this artifact was because this movie is known for the many stereotypes it has against boys and girls. In other words, it has an understanding from both sides and I feel like that is fair for everyone overall. This movie is one of my favorites because it holds a memory of me as a teenage girl watching and trying to understand how genders really act when they are alone in their social groups. To add on, in a way it does go against tradition in a way because of how it is now not only being used for women but also for men. This goes against the tradition of only women wearing lipstick and completely goes against something a traditional man would do back in the day. This cultural artifact has changed the way I think
